Sweepstakes starts at 12:01 am (Pacific Standard Time) on 3/1/02 and ends at 11:59 pm (Pacific Daylight Time) on 4/30/02. The sponsor of this Sweepstakes is Universal Studios Recreation Group, 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City, CA 91608 (the "Sponsor"). The Sweepstakes shall be subject to these Official Rules, and by entering, all participants agree to be bound by the terms and conditions herein. Certain restrictions may apply. TO ENTER: Beginning at 12:01 am (Pacific Standard Time) on 3/1/02 you may enter via the Internet by logging onto the website at http://www.universalstudios.com/themeparks (the "Web Site") and following the Sweepstakes entry directions; providing your first and last name, daytime telephone number, zip code, date of birth and e-mail address. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY 11:59 PM (PACIFIC DAYLIGHT TIME) ON 4/30/02. Sponsor, West Coast Marketing, their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, parent corporations, and their respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees and agents, and any and all Internet servers and access provider(s) are not responsible for: any incorrect or inaccurate entry information; human error; technical malfunctions; failures, omission, interruption, deletion, or defect of any telephone network, computer online systems, computer equipment, servers, providers, or software, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation in this Sweepstakes; inability to access the Web Site, theft, tampering, destruction, or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries; data processing that is processed late or incorrectly or is incomplete or lost due to telephone, computer or electronic malfunction or traffic congestion on telephone lines or the Internet or any web site; printing or other errors, or any combination thereof. Proof of entering information at Web Site is not considered proof of delivery or receipt. Illegible, incomplete and duplicate entries will be disqualified. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned. False and/or deceptive entries or acts shall render entrants ineligible. By registering to enter the Sweepstakes, entrant affirms that they have read and accepted these Official Sweepstakes Rules. The laws of the United States apply to and govern this Sweepstakes and any claims must be raised and resolved in the United States. Any information collected by registering to enter the Sweepstakes shall be used only in a manner consistent with these Official Sweepstakes Rules and with Universal Studios Privacy Policy, which can be found at http://www.universalstudios.com/privacy.html. WINNER SELECTION: One (1) winner will be selected in a random drawing from among all eligible entries on or about 5/15/02 by WEST COAST MARKETING, an independent judging organization, whose decisions are final in all matters relating to this Sweepstakes. The prize will be awarded. Grand Prize winner will be notified by e-mail and or telephone by 5/22/02 and will be required to respond to this notification within 2 days, providing the winner's complete mailing address for receipt of certified mail. Once the winner has responded with such mailing address, he or she will be sent a congratulatory package via certified mail. The winner will be required to execute and return a notarized Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability/Publicity Release form and completed IRS W-9 form within 14 days of date on issuance. Failure to return all required forms in this 14-day time period may result in the winner being disqualified and an alternate winner selected. If any prize notification or prize is returned as undeliverable for any reason, it will be awarded to an alternate. No substitution for the prize will be permitted by the winner. If necessary due to unavailability, a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded at the discretion of the Sponsor. Prize is not transferable, assignable or redeemable for cash. No individual or household may win more than one prize during any ninety-day period in any Sweepstakes or Contest administered by or on behalf of Universal Studios Recreation Group. All Federal, state and local tax liabilities, if any, are the responsibility of the winner. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission (except where prohibited) to use the winner's name, likeness and statements for publicity purposes without additional compensation or limitation. PRIZE: GRAND PRIZE (1 Grand Prize winner will be selected): Grand Prize shall consist of one (1) Home Theatre System consisting solely of one (1) Panasonic SC-HT290D Home Theatre Receiver and 5-DVD/CD Changer, five (5) satellite speakers plus Subwoofer and a selection of 4 Universal Home Video DVD's (note: specific DVD titles awarded is at the sole discretion of the Sponsor). The approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $949.95. If an alternate winner selection is made necessary for any reason, it will be done in a subsequent random drawing from among all eligible entries. The odds of winning the prize are determined by the total number of eligible entries received for the Sweepstakes. ELIGIBILITY: Sweepstakes open only to legal residents of the United States (except residents of Puerto Rico and all U.S. territories and possessions), 18 years of age or older as of date of entry and who had Internet access prior to 3/1/02. Employees and their immediate families of Universal Studios Recreation Group, WEST COAST MARKETING, and their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, parent and related companies, agencies, and those living in the same household of same are not eligible. All U.S. Federal, state and local rules and regulations apply. Void in Puerto Rico, all U.S. territories and possessions and where prohibited or restricted by law. By entering this Sweepstakes, entrants agree to abide by all terms of these Official Rules. GENERAL: By entering this Sweepstakes, entrants agree that Sponsor, West Coast Marketing, their respective employees, officers, directors, shareholders, parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, agencies and any other companies participating in the design, administration or fulfillment of this Sweepstakes (collectively "Sweepstakes Entities"), shall not be liable for personal injuries, death, damages, expenses or costs or losses of any kind resulting from participation or inability to participate in this Sweepstakes or acceptance of or use or inability to use a prize or parts thereof including, without limitation, claims, suits, injuries, losses and damages related to personal injuries, death, damage to or destruction of property, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation or portrayal in a false light (whether intentional or unintentional), whether under a theory of contract, tort (including negligence), warranty or other theory. Winner releases the Sweepstakes Entities from any and all liability and responsibility with respect to a prize (including any property loss, damage, personal injury or death). Winner acknowledges that the aforementioned individuals and entities have neither made nor are in any manner responsible for any warranty, representation or guarantee, expressed or implied, in fact or in law, related to a prize. If for any reason this Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, or if this Sweepstakes or any web site associated therewith (or any portion thereof) becomes corrupted or does not allow the proper playing of the Sweepstakes and processing of entries per these rules, or if infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, actions by entrants, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes, in Sponsor's sole opinion, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual implicated in such action, and/or to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Sweepstakes or any portion thereof. In the event this Sweepstakes is cancelled, Sponsor reserves the right to conduct a random drawing to award the prize from among all eligible, non-suspect Internet entries received for the drawing prior to the time of the action or event warranting such cancellation. If such cancellation, termination, modification or suspension occurs, notification will be posted on the web site at http://www.universalstudios.com/themeparks. Any attempt by an entrant or any other individual to deliberately damage any web site or undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Where a dispute arises about who submitted an on-line entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail account entered. The "authorized account holder" is deemed the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, service provider or other online organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. A potential winner may be requested to provide the Sponsor with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the winning entry and that all eligibility requirements are met. NOTE: Internet entry must be made by the entrant, only at the authorized website address of http://www.universalstudios.com/themeparks. Entries made by any other individual or entity and/or originating at any other Internet website or e-mail address, including but not limited to commercial sweepstakes subscription notification and/or entering service sites, will be declared invalid and as such ruled ineligible for this Sweepstakes.
